Wash, Rinse, Repeat

Wash, Rinse, Repeat

When I started, it took a day to make one of these things. I couldn’t sew. I ripped two seams out for every seam I kept. Now it takes about three hours to build a new prototype from scratch. Shanti’s 90 minutes seems pretty incredible to me still, since she had to deal with me and Brad while she made it…

Some features–like these cool wooden dowels–came and went over many iterations. I still like them, but the cost of adding them to a design that would be handed off to a shop to made–not to mention the unknown lifetime fatigue–kept them from making the final cut. Likewise with the ‘baguette sleeve’, a beautiful idea that used too much material and never got used no matter how many times I brought home a baguette.
